Amazon Japan has partnered with the local supermarket operator Life Corp in order to sell fresh foods online to its customers.
Tokyo: This project is a big one to be commenced in some parts of Tokyo and later this year, it will offer a wide range of products to Amazon’s Prime Now subscribers in Japan too with its delivery time as two hours. It is the first time when the internet giant's Japanese unit will be partnering with a supermarket chain to offer fresh produce.
Amazon Japan will keep its deliveries and payments details under its new venture that targets those people who face challenges when they had to leave home for shopping like elderly people or busy professionals. The firm is hoping to use this service as a goal to meet boarder customer base for its Prime Now subscriptions.
This partnership is also an opportunity for Life Corp too as to extend their customer base and reach them online which are currently just half of the metropolitan region.
